The Union of Municipalities of Montenegro expresses its deep concern over the wildfires that have affected a large number of our member municipalities in recent days. The damage inflicted on people, property, and nature has had serious consequences, but at the same time, it has demonstrated the strength of solidarity and unity.
Municipalities that were not directly affected by these disasters demonstrated remarkable unity and readiness to help by providing personnel, machinery, equipment, and other forms of essential support. We extend our special gratitude to the citizens who, through their selfless engagement, set an inspiring example of courage and humanity.
We also extend our gratitude to neighboring countries, their institutions, and their citizens for their swift response and valuable assistance in combating the wildfires and mitigating their consequences. This tragedy has once again reminded us that there are no borders when it comes to solidarity and the protection of human lives.
Once the wildfires have been fully extinguished, we will work together to define all necessary measures for the recovery of the affected municipalities, as well as additional preventive actions, so that we can be even better prepared to respond to similar situations in the future.
On behalf of all member municipalities, we once again express our sincere gratitude to all individuals, services, and institutions who have demonstrated that solidarity and humanity are the greatest strengths of our society.
