| Project Objective | Achieving the energy transition and addressing climate change in the Western Balkans and Türkiye. The specific objective is to support cities in the Western Balkans and Türkiye in fulfilling their commitments within energy and climate targets. |
| Main Results | Preparation of 4 strategic documents – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs) for the municipalities of: the Capital City of Podgorica, Kolašin, Pljevlja, and Tivat. Implemented in 2024. Pilot project for the Municipality of Berane valued at up to €50,000.00. Implemented, and instead of 1/3 of the roof reconstruction of the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Berane, the entire roof was reconstructed (including waterproofing and thermal insulation). The estimated future energy savings for heating and cooling the facility are around 25%. The initially approved grant of €50,000.00 was increased by an additional €47,000.00. Capacity building: through trainings, study visits, and participation in regional and international conferences, in accordance with GIZ implementation dynamics. |
