The Secretary General of the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro Mišela Manojlović paid a working visit to Berane, where she met with the President of the Municipal Assembly of Berane Vidom Ivanović.
The main topic of the meeting was the organization of the 25th meeting of the European Union–Montenegro Joint Consultative Committee of the European Committee of the Regions (JCC), which will be held in Berane in October. The previous meeting of this body was held in Brussels.
The two officials discussed the organizational and programme-related aspects of the upcoming meeting, which will provide an opportunity for Berane to host representatives of European and Montenegrin local and central authorities, as well as to present its development potential, challenges and priorities.
It was noted that JCC meetings represent an important platform for exchanging views on the European integration process, the role of local governments in implementing reforms and aligning with European standards, as well as for promoting the interests and needs of Montenegrin municipalities at the European level.
The meeting also addressed further enhancement of cooperation between the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro and the Municipality of Berane, particularly in the areas of professional support, strengthening administrative capacities, preparation and implementation of local regulations, European integration, and the implementation of development projects.
Secretary General Mišela Manojlović emphasized that the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro remains a reliable partner to Berane and all local governments, ready to provide additional support in addressing issues of importance to the functioning and development of municipalities through its professional expertise, legislative activities, the work of its networks and committees, training programmes, and the exchange of good practices.
The President of the Municipal Assembly of Berane, Vida Ivanović, expressed her satisfaction that Berane will host this important international event, noting that it will contribute to the promotion of the municipality and northern Montenegro, as well as to further strengthening ties between the local community and European partners.
The two officials expressed their readiness for intensive coordination in the coming period to ensure the successful organization of the 25th JCC meeting and to enable Berane to showcase its potential and hospitality in the best possible way.
