The Union of Municipalities of Montenegro strongly condemns the attack on the President of the Municipality of Budva, Nikola Jovanović, which represents a direct assault not only on the Mayor himself, but also on the institution of local self-government and the democratic mandate entrusted to him by the citizens.
Any form of violence against elected representatives and citizens constitutes a violation of fundamental human rights and the core civilizational values to which we aspire.
The Union of Municipalities of Montenegro remains firmly committed to its principles of protecting local self-government, fundamental human rights, the rule of law, and respect for institutions, and calls on all stakeholders in society to engage in dialogue and uphold democratic procedures.
