Podgorica Dialogue “Community Drives Change”

Ivana Nedović, Secretary of the Committee for Social Affairs of the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro, participated in the Podgorica Dialogue: “Community Drives Change”, which brought together citizens of the Capital City of Podgorica, representatives of institutions, the United Nations in Montenegro and the Government of Montenegro to jointly develop solutions to key challenges facing our city through open dialogue.

The topics that sparked discussion were diverse: civic disengagement, peer violence, a lack of cultural activities, the accessibility of public services for persons with disabilities, as well as a shortage of public gathering spaces, pedestrian zones and children’s playgrounds. The importance of a healthy and connected city was highlighted as a foundation for social cohesion. 🌍

These challenges point to the need to strengthen trust, solidarity and joint action among all stakeholders. The ideas and recommendations developed during the dialogue will serve as a foundation for further work within the Social Cohesion Innovation Lab, which will translate them into concrete steps towards a more inclusive community. 💡

The Podgorica Dialogue is a reminder that only through joint efforts can we build a society in which everyone feels connected and included. The Dialogue is part of the joint UN programme “Strengthening Citizens’ Trust in Institutions and Building Resilient Communities”, funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund and implemented by UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO in partnership with the Government of Montenegro.
