Local government strengthens transparency and efficiency

The Union of Municipalities of Montenegro organised a training session in Podgorica for local government officials from the central and coastal regions, focusing on the use of Google Drive tools to improve the efficiency of administrative work.

The training was delivered by Sario Al Mustafa, head of the Application Software Department within the Information Systems Service of the Capital City.

Participants had the opportunity to learn how to use Google Drive for collaborative document editing, accessing files across multiple devices, advanced commenting and change tracking, as well as integration with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of local government administrations to modernise their operations and enhance efficiency, transparency, and collaboration.

The training forms part of the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro's broader efforts to support digital transformation, a key prerequisite for EU accession, the improvement of local public services, and the fight against corruption. Although many municipalities are still facing challenges in their digital development, initiatives such as this contribute to building a more professional, efficient, transparent, and accessible local administration.

The Union of Municipalities continues to support municipalities in the digitalisation process through ongoing training programmes and by facilitating the use of international funding for digital transformation initiatives.

By supporting the digitalisation of municipalities, the Union promotes the introduction of innovative solutions that not only improve the day-to-day work of municipal administrations but also contribute to building citizens' trust in local government.
