The workshop “Urban Partnership Program – Strengthening local governments in Southeast Europe”

A workshop on “Urban Partnership Program – Strengthening local governments in Southeast Europe” will be organized by Urban Partnership Program of the World Bank and the Republic of Austria ( UPP II)on 02/11/2016 in Podgorica (Ramada Hotel, conference room Medun).

TheUrban Partnership Programbegan operating in February 2015, and the program aims to strengthen the capacity of local governments in Eastern Europe and to provide practical tools to the local elected officials and for the efficient management of urban development for the purpose of inclusive and sustainable growth.

The Urban Partnership Program (UPP II) aims to strengthen the capacity of local governments and offers participatory approaches and tools in three program components: (1) Municipal finance self-assessment, (2) Social responsibility and (3) Integrity building initiative. This approach allows the promotion of good govrnance, including improving accountability, transparency, efficiency and confidence of the citizens, businesses and investors. Since being implemented in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia UPP II offers opportunities for regional networking and exchange of experiences between local governments participating in the Program.

The workshop objective is to present the content of the components of the Urban Partnership Program, the practical tools and participatory approaches and provide the information how to apply for the participation in UPP II. The workshop targets are key decision-makers in the local governments of Montenegro, including mayors, deputy mayors and other senior local government officials.
