Awards for Best Practices in Local Self-Government

Today in Podgorica, a solemn ceremony of awarding best practice in local self-government in Montenegro is held.

The awards are delivered by Mr. Ivan Brajović, Minister of Interior and Public Administration and Mr. Sarunas Adomavicius, Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro.

The ceremony was attended by Mayors, Presidents of Municipal Assemblies, chief administrators, representatives of ministries, representatives of international organizations, Ambassadors of Austria, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and representatives of Embassies of Serbia and Italy.

Following municipalities are awarded:

  • Best Practice in the area of the “Introduction of the IT in Service Provision Process” is practice of the Municipality of Bar – “Municipality of Bar”.
  • ·         Best Practice in the area of the “Tourist Potentials in the Function of Local Development” is practice of the Municipality of Mojkovac – “Introduction of Canoeing on Tara”.
  • Best Practice in the area of the “Improvement of Agricultural Production through Partnerships with Farmers and Population from Rural Areas” is practice of the Municipality of Plav“Agricultural Production by Establishing Eco-Orchards and Application of Modern Agro-Technical Measures in Agriculture”.
  • Best Practice in the area of the “Support to the Establishment and Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises” is practice of the Municipality of Danilovgrad – “Reduction of Business Barriers in the Municipality of Danilovgrad”.
  • Best Practice in the area of the “Service Provision through Partnership” is practice of the Municipality of Herceg Novi“Partnership as Method of the Organization of City”.
  • Best Practice in the area of the “Improvement of the Status of Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups” is practice of the Municipality of Pljevlja“Introduction of Local Mechanisms for Achieving Gender Equality”.
  • Best Practice in the area of the “Imp Initiatives for the Youth” is practice of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje“Office for Youth and Development”.

Due to extraordinary ideas, innovative approach, practical implementation and achieved results in the area of the “Improvement of the Status of Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups”, 2 special prizes were awarded, as following:

To the Municipality of Kotor for “Action Plan in the Area of Disability of the Municipality of Kotor”, and

To the Municipality of Herceg Novi for “Adoption of Local Action Plan in the Area of Disability of the Municipality of Herceg Novi 2010-2015 – Opening of Digital Printing Office which employs children with disabilities”.
